Lord, make us an instrument of your peace.

Wednesday

Hey this is Sarah (the birthday girl!!!!!). Today is Wednesday and we woke up and had a wonderful hot breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast, cereal and potatoes. We did our normal routine of devotions and prepared for our service project of finishing cleaning up the church. We divided up into groups for the kitchen, cleaning and organizing. We started at 9 and lasted until 11:30.

Once we got back to the mission we cleaned up and rested a little before lunch of the normal cold cut sandwiches. After all the dishes were done we got ready for the day of VBS, which was a complete success. We had about 9 kids or so. At the VBS we played games that could keep us cool in the 95 degree weather. The games included water balloon toss, bean bag relays, 3 legged races and a blind fold game that was incorporated into the lesson.

Today’s lesson was about the blind man and how Jesus healed the man. Allie and Heather Slagh taught today’s lesson. The kids enjoyed the lesson and the story told by Matt who played the blind man. The craft was a mini flashlight that the kids were able to color on and when they got done they colored on paper laid out on the tables. A lot of us are able to make buddies with the kids and I got a ton of photos of the buddies.

While typing this the group just surprised me with a birthday cake which was GOOD!!!!!! Well continuing today’s schedule we are up to the time we had to rest and play cards and just having a good time together and laughing a ton too. We are just finishing the cake and now just getting some down time before the children’s service at the church. The service is going to be lead by the youngest kids to the teenagers. Sadly we are not going to the corner and continuing building relationships with people on the streets.

Just got back from the children’s service and getting ready for bed. The service was lead with the children starting to sing and shared bible verses or art work they drew. The singing was awesome to sing along with or listen to when they sang in Spanish. Then they had a little play to present to us about Daniel and the Lions’ Den. The lions were the youngest kids and were so adorable. There was refreshments and desserts after the service. We stayed for a little while but decided to go back and get ready for bed or play games.

Praying for a great turn out with more kids at VBS and a great time sight seeing tomorrow and Friday. Going to soak in as much as possible with only a few days left. Going to be sad to say good-bye to the kids and the people at the mission and the street but going to having many memories and stories to share for the rest of our lives.
